How To Come Up With Great Content?
This is something every blogger struggles with one time or another. There’s the pressure of adding regular content (however you define regular), finding the time to write and making sure you always publish your best work. So what to do when you know you have to come up with something decent and all you manage to do is stare at the blank page on your screen?
Try to find a topic that solves a problem within your target market. What do people generally have questions about? What do they struggle with? What would they like more information on? You want your posts to be as useful as possible to your readers
I have a few methods I tend to use when my mind is just blank and I need some ideas on what to write about:
- Forums. I browse Internet marketing forums and read what people are talking about and especially what they need help with. I think this is one of the best ways of finding cracking ideas for content and I usually get tons of ideas by just spending an hour reading popular threads and topics on places like the Warrior Forum.
- Other blogs. I tend to spend a lot of time reading and commenting blogs of other internet marketers, not just to find content ideas but for many other reasons too such as forming relationships and driving traffic. But I do get plenty of content ideas from them too. Now let me be clear, I don’t mean stealing someone’s content but it’s perfectly ok to write about the same topic. Make sure though that you absolutely write the content yourself and don’t ever copy. Otherwise you will only get yourself into all sorts of trouble and at the very least damage your reputation online.
- Email newsletters. Signing up for various email newsletters can also give you great content ideas. Find reputable internet marketers and see what they talk about in their newsletters. It’s always a good idea to learn from someone who’s already doing it well!
- Blogging communities. These are actual goldmines for content ideas. You get loads of amazing bloggers sharing their latest content and interacting with other bloggers so why not get involved! Communitites like BizSugar, Blog Engage and Blokube are all active and can easily give you an overview of what’s hot in the industry and what people like to read about.
Take Time For Yourself
Sometimes it’s a good idea to just switch off the laptop and any other technology and just be. Yup, do absolutely nothing. This one is really hard for me as I easily fall into the hectic way of life but that’s why it’s all the more important for me to remember to have some time off everything.
We all know that regular exercise is not only good for you physically but also mentally. I often start the day by going to the gym and have found that it gives me a wonderful energy boost to start the day and to get the creative juices flowing. It’s also time you spend away from your laptop actively trying to come up with something decent which in itself works wonders when it comes to creating anything, whether it’s writing or something else.
Reviewing on products in your niche is always a fantastic idea. Most people these days tend to do their research online before buying a product so honest, comprehensive reviews on your site will not only give your content but also help in enhancing your reputation within your market. Make sure though that the products you review are related to your niche!
Now it’s your turn – hit me up with your own tips for finding content ideas, I would love to hear them as like every other blogger, I’m constantly on the lookout for new topics to write about!
